I may need to rescale them given that it's unlikely anyone will get to 10,000 posts on this forum unless we get a lot more members.

Nah, don't rescale them. How many Grandmaster of Flowers should their be?
Besides, at some point, others will want to use the forums. What I've seen is that for gaming, most of the forums (a) don't have that many SUPER ACTIVE members (b) we don't want those guys, they are often totally nuts compared to your car ppls, and usually just really super want to convince everyone to allow some broken thing because they had fun with it once this time or whatever and (c) all of the truly large forums are tied to some natural gravity point for gamers. The last one is the bigger one.
However- once people understand that they can have THEIR OWN SUBFORUM, I suspect we might go up to like, a hundred members. I truly don't understand why some people aren't interested in play-by-post here, for instance, but maybe it's because we don't have a critical mass. The own-subforum thing is so good though.

It seems like win-win-win to me. The DM controls who can come into the forum. So even if some other group wants to express how their hardcore gaming method is better... they can't do it in our gaming subforum.
