These are some actions we might consider:

Partial Run- This uses a standard action to run at twice your movement rate (half the distance a full run covers), but is otherwise governed by the rules for run- you provoke attacks of opportunity, don't get the Dex bonus, etc. Zem thought that this was so intuitive that he spontaneously included it, so presumably this is in. This would be a standard action.

Partial Charge- Subject to more trickery, this uses a standard action to charge. Obviously the charge is just your movement. Note that this basically just allows a move before the charge, and essentially is just a buff for charge. This would also be a standard action.

What level Haste spell would create an effect like 3.0 haste? It seems like that would be well within the power of a 9th level spell. What about 8th? 7th? I would think 8th. (The old version granted a partial action every round, on top of an absurd +4 bonus to AC- that's dropped to +1, but the granted partial action is gone).

Also you know what? That invisibility purge? That was PERFECT. That's like a good dessert after a nice dinner. It just finishes everything SO GOOD. I'm STILL smiling about that shit.

Also I believe that standing up as a free action is a DC35 Tumble check, easily possible by a 14th level rogue/assassin who rolls above average. I'm pretty sure this is in the rules compendium, and almost positive it's not in the PHB. By rules it provokes attacks of opportunity still- but I'm really sketched out about free actions provoking anyway.

Good thing I was hasted and was able to flank him and get my full attack.

There were only two kills of the night. Did you get both of them? I think you did.

There were three, if you count Sankroparlotzy. I got the not-golem and the assassin.

There have been enough times where I wish I had that and didn't. I decided to make sure that I had that on deck just in case. Even with that though, we were still lucky to get out of there alive.

Actually, at that point, I think the guy was just trying to get away. Maybe he would've tried to kill the wizard (because hey, it's the wizard, and why not), but I think the rest of us were safe.

He couldn't have taken me in a round. He had no sneak attacks, and I had plenty of hit points. The real problem is having an angry assassin stalking you.

And killing bad guys, that's what we do!

Who said he was a bad guy? Sure, maybe he would kill people for money, but did you ever stop to meet the real Bertok? You just heard some stories through the grapevine and passed judgment on him. He was a man. You pricked him and you saw him bleed. He had hopes, regrets, and burdens, and he fancied a woman. He was most at home under the starry skies around a warm fire with good friends, telling stories of days that seemed better for being in the past. None of that mattered to any of you. You labeled him evil and set up a trap to kill a man who had never harmed you.

"Killing bad guys?".... Nope, I think you do your best to keep them alive.

:(

I spent a nice 10 seconds getting dropped 100 hit points. The real Bertok wields an evil artifact that drains reality of all metaphor and verve. He served a god of murder, and his payment was to be skewered, punched, poked, and ripped in twain, in desperate hope of sending him to become an erinyes or whatever the fuck happens to assassins when they die.

Well no, we pricked him and he spent about two rounds dropping almost all our party as they raced after him- he didn't bleed nearly as much as I had hoped.

The cops do that to murderers too, you know.

Our rogue might rob from us and delight in the killing of, well, anything he is pointed at, but he doesn't do contract work. And he has the balls to kill a fellow worshipper of Mask!

I'm not sure the incredibly dark gray pot, the sort of dark gray that people think is black until they see it full daylight while standing next to something truly black, can really get on the kettle's ass that much.

Are we talking about Eron or Marchosias?

Both.

Of course, I'm just fucking with you. He was a hired assassin, so that's at least 15% more evil than Marchosias. However, I do find it amusing that you set a trap to kill a guy you didn't know because he had something you wanted, and then became more determined to kill him when he won the first interaction.

To the citizens around that market, he was the friendly guy who made and sold baskets. He really only made some of them. He found it relaxing, but with his other job he couldn't find the time to make all of them, so he imported a bunch and they were delivered for resale through the tunnel. So the people saw their favorite basket maker run out of his own tent being chased by an umber hulk and a dark fellow. The latter stabbed him, and the former ripped him in half. The priests, of course, removed any further evidence of what had happened before anyone really investigated it. So, you know... that certainly looks rather awful. If Marchosias finds a need for rubies, perhaps he should go somewhere else.

Oh damn, I just realized I screwed up again. There's no way the dim door took whoever was holding the dagger. It doesn't really matter since there was a back way out of there, but that's like 3 different things I screwed up in that fight. I suck at this.

The less evil members of the party knew he was an assassin. Some of them might've been overjoyed to be taking out an assassin, and one in particular would be doubly happy about taking out an assassin who kills wizards. Marchosias didn't have much stake in those parts, but he WAS a little upset about being bested by a fellow rogue. He's not exactly one to say "live and let live", you know?

Well I was holding the dagger when we went through the dim door. You dropped us in a lake though so that is partial punishment. :D
