As discussed, a huge scary beast with an ounce of intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, Strength, Constitution... WHATever!!!1! Why can't this sort of character or monster be able to taunt or intimidate another character or monster? I think that a charisma score shouldn't be the main modifier?

Thoughts? Dreams? Nonsense?

Using Intimidation with Strength in some situations is actually given as an example in the PHB.

So just based on that alone (I'm obviously willing to mix and match skills), I think it's a fine call.

BUT

There's obviously some types of results that using your strength to intimidate someone can simply never work for. A big example is from today- "Cowards, come and fight" was a hard sell versus these particular demons (hence the high DC), but it was always bound to use Charisma, because showing off that you're able to defeat them isn't going to generate the correct result.

But there's definitely other cases going forward where I'll allow Strength or Charisma to be the check.
