http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117162Quoting: "I was thinking of a possible fighter build that involved, instead of weilding conventional weapons, would just use two spiked shields and he'd go around shield bashing everything. I was looking in the rulebooks to see if this would be allowed - would the two shield bonuses stack, or would it be pointless do do a build like this?"
It takes until post 19 before someone shares my outlook: look monkey, you can't wield TWO SHIELDS. If that was effective, it would have been all over the historical battlefields, and if a fucking rule LETS you wield two shields effectively, it needs to be used to wipe your ass, then flushed.
He then gets attacked for his statements, which is just epic. Is swear these forums are like 80% rules lawyering players looking for a DM to browbeat.
And the rules actually stop the shield bonuses from stacking, at least. The folks immediately begin coming up with possible house rules to ALLOW THEM TO STACK, which just blows my mind.
Arrarararararrrrgrgh
Then they start asking him, so what happens if someone picks up two shields? (The correct answer should probably be a -4 to hit with shield bash, and to make shield bash count as an offhand attack exactly as the rules say, and most DEFINITELY to disallow shield bashing with TWO shields in any one round)
They just shout him down, call him paranoid.
No, of course you should be able to wield two shields. Seriously, happened all the time. Totally. Romans conquered the world that way.
Morons.
