There are a lot of scrolls here. I assume that I don't want to be running around using my medium-size marker on the map, and then a huge-size marker behind me for my Wagon O' Scrolls. So what's the best course of action here? Put a bunch of them in the pot, and hold onto the ones that will best serve us in times of immediate need? I'm a little leery of keeping them all in the pot - you know those non-arcane casters, never paying attention to the delicacy of scrolls.

Also, am I able to copy from a scroll into my spellbook, thus "blanking" the scroll?

Also in your loot...

Bountiful Scroll Case- This is a magical scroll case. Once you identify it, you will find: This scroll case appears to hold 8 scrolls, but it actually has a link to an extradimensional space. As a free action once a round on your turn, chose up to 8 scrolls out of all the scrolls in the case and all the scrolls in the extradimensional space. The 8 you chose are now in the scroll case, and all others from those two lists are now in the extradimensional space. The extradimensional space holds up to 100 scrolls.

Oh yeah. Duh.

I should probably not try to focus on gaming stuff while at work.

Yes. It requires a spellcraft check, as detailed under the magic section in the PHB.

Magically sealed door in the wall. Specifically:

This section of wall looks entirely normal, but tapping on it reveals a faint echo. It's located centrally in the house, and is likely a cleverly concealed closet, based on the space probably missing from the adjoining rooms. Near the floor is a small section where a pinky finger, or lock pick, can go, and triggering it releases a mechanism- but the door stays shut, held tight by a small amount of transmutation magic.

What's the plan?

Alenka searches for traps. If located, attempt to disarm. If none detected or disarm fails...

Scroll of knock. Range Medium.

Rigby casts knock from a frightening 13 feet away. Immediately after casting, he ducks behind the wall, while invisible, and flying. He puts his hands over his ears, but no massive explosion follows.

"Ok, I've got it." Alenka announces, the latch smoothly opening the door.

Inside is a room of bags.

Stasis Bag- This silken normal sized bag (about 1 cubic foot) holds anything inside it in a magical stasis. The bag has 15 hit points.
Bag of Proof Against Nelthic Elements- This rough bag has chain links, and is sort of a burlap kind of texture and color. Anything inside this bag is immune to fire and water effects. This bag can hold up to 2x2x2. The bag has hardness 15 and 300 hit points.
Bag of Holding, Type I- This bag is slick to the touch, and brick red in color. It seems more like a distended organ than anything else. This bag weighs 15 pounds at all times. It can hold up to 250 pounds of gear, and is limited to 30 cubic feet.
Rim-Thul's Sack- This resembles a small backpack, but is green with blue threading. It is the equivalent of a handy haversack, except it only has two compartments. The major compartment holds up to 100 pounds @ 12 cubic feet. There is only one additional compartment, holding up to 10 pounds @ 1 cubic foot.

All the bags are empty except the Bag of Proof Against Nelthic Elements, which contains:
8 Star Ruby (1100 GP per)
12 Bloodstone (30 GP per)
3 Violet Garnet (400 GP per)
5 Emeralds (900 GP per)
2 Blue Diamonds (6800 GP per)
8 Lapis Lazuli (8 GP per)
30 Zircon (25 GP per)
8 Aquamarine (440 GP per)
1 Black Star Sapphire (1300 GP)
1 Blue-Green Crystal of Unknown Origin (??) [The crystal would fit into Keichis hands, were he to hold the tips of his fingers together]
12 Pink Pearl (120 GP per)
67 Platinum Pieces

If I didn't make myself the haversack out of our magical components, I'd like to take this one.

Regarding all the gems, I think we should hold onto them rather than selling them, since old triangle face keeps asking us for gems in trade for his awesome items.

Given that you've been at this for 24 minutes, it's safe to say you didn't make a haversack in that time.

No, this was back right after we got those magical components, and I was passing around the list to see what people wanted. Zem got the Circlet Of Blasting, Cooley got the upgraded tura (I think), I got the gloves or arrow snaring or whatever....I know I was thinking that I'd make myself a haversack at that time as well (since both were relatively cheap compared to what others got), but I can't remember whether I actually went through with it. If I did, it's on my character sheet.

Wait, what are you talking about?

Sunglasses at night? Class ability? Some loot I forgot about? All interior rooms have oil lamps, and exterior rooms have windows.

He's just saying that he got some Goggles Of Night (I believe), not an upgraded tura, which was one of the items on your "you can make this magical shit with this other pile of shit" list. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wo ... lesofNight

No, he's referring to the magical item Morgrim crafted for him. Irrelevant to what's happening now.

As for now, we're in a bit of a pickle.

First... have we used Det Secret Doors pretty much everywhere? Followed that up with someone clever enough to look under rugs and behind drapes because "Hey, Zemmy took a spell as a sorcerer, so let's ensure his first use of it is foiled by a goddamned area rug"? We want to make sure we have searched this place thoroughly and packed all the loot we can. We're searching the house, the little pond/fountain thing outside, and the whole area. I don't have a clear vision of what's there except the house and some fountain thing. We're going over all of it and in such a way that "I'm still bitter about Know the Path" doesn't cause us to be foiled by area rugs. I would also like to spend a moment figuring out how he got trees to grow in a desert. Are they real? Is the environment in his shell altered?

Second, we're in a bit of a pickle. This may be best decided when we actually game, because here are out two options...
1: Use up at least one scroll of teleport. It depends on whether Morgrim has the spell memorized or not. If he does, we just need one... but it requires a caster check from me to use it. If we want to be sure it works (no caster check), then he has to teleport, teleport back, and teleport again. But in the very least, it's one scroll if he has one memorized and two if he doesn't. I know Ash used his domain spell on entry into the battle.

2: Carry all our shit over a few dunes where hopefully the wind will be blowing and wash away our foot prints. Rope Trick. Morgrim and Ash sleep while the rest of us keep watch. I'll have one of these scrolls ready to go. If we make it 8 hours without being spotted by John's Tiny Penis Dragon, we teleport normally. If we get interrupted, we drop out of the rope trick and use one or two scrolls to bug out.

Either way, heading back to Emerald to figure out our next plan that is listed in order of priority several pages back in this thread.

The market price of a teleport scroll is 1125gp. My vote is that if Morgrim has one memorized, we burn a scroll. If not, then I suggest we rope trick a couple hundred yards away to avoid burning two scrolls.

It appears then if I can avoid rolling a 1 or a 2 on a d20, then we can leave burning only one scroll. I think you can take everyone but one person, so I would be the only one at risk in the very unlikely event of a mishap (I think it would require 2 rolls being 1 or 2 on a d20). However, then I'm sure John would make me do something evil like roll percentile dice to determine how bad the mishap is. I suspect with teleport things could go very wrong very quickly.

It's not my call. I just want to make sure we thoroughly search this wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Ah, right, goggles of night. Pretty soon he'll have a wide variety of special visions- see invis, blindsight 10 foot radius, darkvision 60 feet. Get some X-Ray specs and you'll be able to see through clothes and skin.

mmmm baby you know I wanna be close to a spleen like dat

Quote:

Yes. The rugs don't foil that.
Quote:

Alenka did that in an earlier step whilst the rest of you were doing something else. You've actually taken down some of the draperies, but any more and you'd be burning time, so many remain up, though she checked behind them all. That was actually how she found the hatch to the basement area.
Quote:
"Hey, Zemmy took a spell as a sorcerer, so let's ensure his first use of it is foiled by a goddamned area rug"?

I was a fan of the non-hidden door under a rug, and was hoping that that would ride. Oh well!

Quote:
We're searching the house, the little pond/fountain thing outside, and the whole area.

This takes 5 minutes to do a full job, during which Keichi could poach and fold some of the remaining rugs/draperies and throw them in the bag of holding, with an extra 3 minutes if the rest of the crew pitches in after the searching step. Do you want the extra rugs and draperies? Do you want them all?

The pond flows up from a magical source. Small rivulets of it dribble out, but disappear at the boundary.

The environment is moist. It's also a bit cooler than outside. The altered environment goes up quite a distance, about 500 feet, and pyramids at the top. The trees are very likely transplants, they are Pallian and have small, rather triangular leaves with large veins. They are decorative and popular there. Perhaps, somewhere, in some spellbook, is Teleport Tree.

Keichi collects evil souls and wonders what all the fuss is about.

If Morgrim has teleport memorized then we should just teleport back to emerald. Can't we just put Rigby in the bag of holding and then just burn one spell?

Short of that once we get back I'm sure we could ask that someone teleports back to collect Rigby (hiding in a rope trick maybe with a member of the party).

Seems like a quick solution would be best.

To be fair, the description of bag of holding gives you information that every magical child abductor would be interested in:
If living creatures are placed within the bag, they can survive for up to 10 minutes, after which time they suffocate.

Um, and someone else should probably hold your haversack...

I was aware of this fact.

I do not like this fact.

Conveniently, I can technically carry everything of personal importance to me.... I just can't really fly with it all in perfectly ordinary King Soopers bag or whatever.

I don't understand why we don't put someone else in the bag. This is sizism. It's like being the youngest sibling and having to sit in the back in the middle all over again!!!!
