On a sad note, my Subaru began to have heat issues about halfway to the airport, and there was a funny smell as I left the car. I'm thinking as a stop-gap to have my mom drive to the airport and bring me some coolant (lol mom lives in the same city now), but who the hell knows what the actual problem is. Curse from the gods? I had just fixed the Z's windshield the previous day, so SOMETHING has to be wrong with a car? Heater core (I didn't see anything inside the cabin)? Bad hose(s)?

Sounds like possibly a leaky hose or leaky radiator. Adding some coolant for now is not a bad idea. At the same time, you could also add a bottle of that radiator leak fix stuff.
