Last week I learned I was on the layoff list.

Since then, I have been looking for a new job, and trying not to panic. I still have time- and if laid off I will almost assuredly have severance for a few weeks.

This is important for several reasons- but I have been unable to work on the game, and unless this nonsense subsides (for instance, I get a new job, or calm down at least) I doubt I will be able to run our August game.

It isn't off yet. Just a warning.

hang in there H. Just do what you need to and we'll make do.

Worst case we'll get together on the date and help you blow off some steam.

Well, good news and bad news.

The good news is pretty good- the uppers talked some folks into research money. This gives me at least four more weeks, and in October everything could technically be resolved- or it could be tits up for way more than just me. The other two folks are still being laid off though. Still, the panic switch is no longer firing, and I'll apparently be writing up some design papers, which I'm excited about.


The bad news isn't that bad. I haven't gotten much in the way of bites so far inside Lockheed (the legit cool jobs rejected me right away), and the few leads with pretty solid folks are all east coast (nothing remote or local to Denver). Zem's lead is stuff I haven't worked with. There's still plenty of time, however.



I still plan to hang with you guys on Saturday. I have a little bit prepped so would you be up to game for a bit? Like, not a full session? But I'm definitely down for drinking/movies/games/rub-a-tug or whatever it is that happens when I'm not there

Great to hear that things are at least temporarily resolved, John. Hopefully things trend in that direction for you.

Your proposed schedule for Saturday actually works well for me, since I'm still not sure when I'm going to be free on Saturday. I could be showing up as late as 6pm, so an abbreviated session sounds perfect.

We can food, movie, video games, and/or foosball. And maybe you guys will say "Hey, let's finish painting this kitchen!" You know, it's out there. It's an idea. I'm not suggesting it, just letting you know it's a possibility.

We can also discuss the next campaign. Primarily, I'm curious what all of you want to play. If there are 5 sorcerers and a paladin, that will make things interesting. I'm also planning on bringing in Rich Hogen. Whether he replaces someone or squeezes in at the table will be decided when we figure out who is actually gaming next time.

Sure, it's a non-critical repair. Sure, I explained that I absolutely need my car on Sunday. Sure, I dropped it off Wednesday night. So of course, my car is in pieces and the only guy who can put it back together went home for the weekend. I'd be alright if they just said "We can't finish this before the weekend." But, no, they went boldly forward and then said how sorry they are.
