The last demands of the reds- mainly that there be some lower taxes on certain devices, and that some congresscritters not be exempt from Obamacare- were pretty reasonable, and they were denied.

If those had been their demands out of the gate, however, they would have got them, because the blues wouldn't have shut everything down for that. Instead their initial demands were so preposterous that they were bound to fail, and they were roundly and rightly perceived as the cause of the shutdown. I would assume that was deliberate. I would assume that they honestly believe that the healthcare act will be so unpopular that they want to go on record as opposing it to the last.

If that was their wish, they got it.



Anyway, Obama just signed the bill turning everything back on. Basically, he won, after essentially refusing to negotiate with economic terrorists. I'm pretty goddamned relieved, and JoeP's furlough is ending, and everything is back to normal, except that everyone is seriously fucking sketched out about those red team ppls.
