If you have not done so, please tell me race, gender, class, and backstory of your character. You can make it an email, PM, or post it here. I just need to get things going.

The available classes...
Fighter
Paladin
Ranger
Barbarian
Cleric
Druid
Sorcerer
Wizard
Rogue
Swashbuckler

Available races are described in the other thread.

Male human paladin. I'll begin developing a backstory shortly.

After thinking this through a bit, I removed Knight from the list.

Knight is a job. Fighters will typically become knights. By default, they are in the Order of (Their King), but there are other orders. More of that as the world comes together and we see if it becomes relevant.

I think there are 3 major problems. First, the knight class if a little too strong. Second, the knight class is crappy. Third, the knight class implies that a person who is not a knight cannot be knighted.

When you consider a medieval battlefield, someone got the idea that "Oh no! We forgot the knights!" Of course, the knights are the most powerful people out there, so when you write a class to fill that, you will tend to make it very strong. The problem is that when you say you forgot the knights, you instantly reduce fighters to nothing but the common warrior, and that's wrong. Pretty much everyone out there is a fighter (maybe a ranger or a paladin). The knights have probably used their bonus feats to focus on knightly things.

So in short: Knight is a job, it is not a class. Should you be a knight, there is an oath. Breaking it means you're a dick, and it also might have repercussions on your alignment, but it will not affect your abilities as a fighter. Should a ranger come across a fight were the king was ambushed during a hunt and he saves the king, the ranger may be knighted for his service... but it does not change his class.

A paladin, on the other hand, is a specialty class of a specific religious order. You may join the religious order without being a paladin, but you may not be a paladin without the religious order.

Male Human Sorcerer. I'll talk to you about back story at some point when I have some free brain cells...

What if I did an Elvin Sorcerer? Would that ruin Christmas? I like ruining Christmas...

Well, if you were elven, you would be way less human.

Read the bit about elves and humans in the Player Races thread.

In quick summary, being an elven sorcerer would be a bit like being a gay black may in the 1950s South.

Yes, James May was a gay black may in the 1950s South.

So, here are some tips for ideas that may inspire someone to write something. Anything. Skim as you see fit. This doesn't cover very much, but hopefully enough for you to come up with a starting point.

Borden: Heart of a fallen empire. Many people still think they are pretty great at that the "former provinces" will one day come to their senses.

Damodar: Sparsely populated, poor. It's sort of a constant battle with orcs and other terrible fey things.

Narendra: Arid lands north of a desert. The culture is influenced the nomads in the desert, the major trade route running east-west, and the fey-haters to the north. Less law, more freedom, but always have guards. Slavery and multiple wives are legal here.

Morven: Dwarves in the mountains mining, humans on the surface.

Navroz: Former penal colony.

Marlow: A senate formed of 20 nobles rules here. They don't want a king because kings are dickheads. The people think their time for glory is coming.

Gheppora Steppes: Semi-nomadic people in many tribes. Korati and Hattok are among the stronger tribes. These people love their freedom even though they are poor as shit.

Orinsard: Elves under a government protected by their terrain.

Garnock: Ruled by guilds. No nobility.

Tyr: Home of most dwarves.

Lorris: Ruined nation. Nasty wars were fought here, and enough destruction that it never really recovered. Anything could happen in burned out castles and towns.

Owlsmoor: Lots of open space here. The moors go and and and on, and villages tend to be in lower lands where the wind gets a break.

Sardon: Controls land trade with the east. Wealthy. Mix of east and west, but not really a good mix. There is greater wealth and power gaps like the east, but that does not come with the sense of responsibility for the nobles to protect their people.

Valgard: Are you the bloodline of a traitor?

Orroland: The heartland of the heartland. Soaring towers surrounded by moats. You're starting here.

Nosland: The wild meets the wealth of trade.

Ivica: Small, isolated kingdom backed up the Argenis forest.

Southern nations along the coast typically have lots of wealth.

If you want to be from the east, read it yourself.

You can wait until we generate characters if necessary, but I would appreciate a character description. This should be easy. Hair, eyes, age, deviations from average height and weight, general clothing, etc.

Just look to the avatar to the left.
<----

OK for cereals....for my paladin, I see him as slightly above average height, muscled but still somewhat lean, early 20s, gray eyes, close-cropped light brown hair, no facial hair. For dress at the tournament, he'll be in his best "I'm a Paladin of the Order of Saint Ramsey" clothes...not sure if this jives with what you have in mind, but likely a white doublet with a symbol of Agnelo featured prominently on the front, and some light grey pants with polished boots. Holy symbol around his neck, worn on top of his clothes. Sword buckled at his waist. Maybe he'll be carrying some holy book of Agnelo around the tournament as well.

"Livid" is named for her blue-grey hair, darker and a bit more saturated than the frost elf average. Her build is heavier than average, and her flat face is framed by bright periwinkle eyes.

Age 120, Height 5'3", Weight 140

Vindifinda "Livid" Nixelita
Ranger 1 / Female / Frost Elf

She'll initially be wearing some armor from her home, and packing a large pack full of stuff. Her polearm will be easily visible, and likely a longbow, and she'll mostly be wearing grays and whites.

A doublet? You don't think you'd be walking around in some chainmail or something with a tabard over it? I assume you'll be wearing armor most of the time.

Real PCs take Endurance and don't even take their armor off for bathing!

Well....I guess I don't really know. I suppose that would be fine. I am not yet an expert in the paladiny arts.

It occurs to me that you do not have the oath of the Order of Saint Ramsey. I shall remedy that this afternoon.

Usually it's my ass that compels you to do things.

Jesus man just wear leather and speak in a British accent to compel him to do things. Ass not required, but sometimes you will need to roll your arrrrrs or hisssss your esses.

I will say this: plate armor actually and literally includes chain shirt et. al. You would be totally within your rights to assume that the chain shirt you likely begin with might become part of the plate you eventually buy or have, er, fitted to you.
