What would you think if instead of 6 of these spells, there were 3, and each buffed 2 stats? Like, Str and Int, Dex and Cha, Wis and Con?

These spells are a bit weak for level 6 as they currently stand.

I realize you went for pairings that were virtually useless, but I actually benefit nicely from Dex and Cha.

Actually, each stat has an unofficial pairing. Int is the mental Str, Cha is the mental Dex, and Wis is the mental Con. I think? Anyway, I just used that.

The more I think about it, the more I don't like it. I wouldn't want the spells to feel mandatory. I would like to improve them though.

The obvious problem, in my opinion, is that they should have been 5th level to start. Even there they won't be a top pick, but at 6th level... you've really got to want to waste some spell slots.

I think we have to balance them as cleric spells, and then give wizards equal access. That seems to have been what was done. They aren't supposed to be as powerful as arcane spells of their level.

5th level is a fine idea too.

The way you said that it sounded like it was a different level for clerics.

Options that come to mind...

- Increase the bonus to +6
- Increase the duration to 10 min/level
- Decrease the level to 5
- Make it a single spell for purposes of memorization/spell book (Mass Animal's Trait, pick at casting)
- Add X% chance bonus is higher or they get another trait buffed as well.
- Add X% chance they turn into a legendary form of the animal in question because that would be frickin awesome
- Make a double rainbow every time it is cast. I love double rainbows.

In the rules as you find in the book, it's not terribly difficult to gain +6 to your primary stat from gear by mid/high level. Since I mostly ban the stat boosting guys, this is actually an option for us. Could definitely do this.

I don't like 10 min / level buffs very much, actually. You'll recall that the duration USED to be this long. The issue is mostly that it encourages minute tracking between encounters in a dungeon.

I would have no qualms about this. Fifth level lacks good group buffs anyway, and so this one would do ok there.

Mass Animal Thinger is not a bad idea. I like this idea, but it's a pretty small buff.

I wouldn't want the situation where you have several friendly clerics before an important battle, hammering out castings until one of them rolls well :P

GASP

So, I think it would be pretty easy to say:
5th level, and it is one spell instead of six.

Those two things should probably give it all it needs.

I'd like the +6 bonuses to be reserved for higher level trickery.

One of the books has a multiple +6 stat spell to a single target perhaps. I think it's called Chasing Perfection, and I recall thinking it would be good to cast on Sunny, as Eron, as he made such a gosh darn good use of all the stats.

Plus he could get mad tail with a Cha of like 12.
